Title of qualification/thesis:
Indagini ecologico-fitogeografiche sulle zone umide interne del Lazio. 1 - Relazione tra lo stato chimico-fisico delle acque e le comunità macrofitiche della Bonifica Pontina.

Research interests:
The current topics of the research are mainly: 1) Floristic, with contributes to studies in the Apennines region, with the discovery of rare, new for the region or threatened species, as Hottonia palustris, Ophioglossum vulgatum, Vicia barbazitae, Viola kitaibeliana and others, 2) ex situ conservation (at the Botanical Garden of Viterbo, the UTV Herbarium and the Tuscia Germplasm Bank, with the definition of protocols for in vitro germination and storage and studies to promote the dissemination of knowledge on problems and methods of ex situ conservation, particularly of species of travertine that characterize the hydrothermal areas of Viterbo, of Pteridophytes and of species of the genus Trifolium; 3) Taxonomy and Systematics of species of Violaceae (Viola), Fabaceae (Trifolium, Vicia), Poaceae (Gastridium) and Pteridophytae. 4) biodiversity monitoring in protected areas of central Italy to develop techniques for the assessment of species diversity (vascular flora); 5) contributes to the Checklist of the Italian Vascular Flora and to the “Flora d’Italia”.

1980-1984 in Bailleul, France, at the "Centre Regional Phytosociologie" under the direction of Prof. JM Géhu.
1985 to present at the University of Viterbo, Italy.
1996 to present, scientific head of the Herbarium of Tuscia (UTV).
2009-2011, Head of the Botanical Gardens of Viterbo, Italy.

She is member of many Italian and International Scientific Associations where she holds some important tasks within Boards, Editorial Committees of Journals, Commissions: Società Botanica Italiana (SBI), in which she was the coordinator of the Floristic Working Group from 2000 to 2008.

In the '90s member of the Habitat Working Group of the European Commission - DG IX - for the requirements of Directive 92/43, and Scientific representative for the Lazio region of Bioitaly national project.
She is, or has been, the recipient of funds allocated by the MIUR, the Lazio Region, the CNR, the SBI and other conventions for research projects such as: the P.S. CNR (2000) “Biodiversity and Ecosystems”; the Convention DABAC-SBI (2000-2002) about the priority Habitat of the E.U. Directive 92/43, the Convention between the Environment Minister and other Universities and Research Centres (2000-2003) on the “Completion of background Nature” (Scientific Supervisor of the Project “Nationwide Floral Survey”), the Convention DABAC-DBV (“La Sapienza” University.) on the “Knowledges on Italian Flora”. In 2000-2005, under the CCNB Progect funded by the Italian Ministry of the Environment and coordinated by the University La Sapienza of Rome, coordinator of the “Floristic analysis at national scale" that allowed to document and update the detailed distribution of rare, endemic and nationally endangered entities.
In 2008-2010 coordinator of the preparatory work for the institution of the Museums System of the University of Tuscia, and she is a member of the Scientific and Technical Committee, representing the Herbarium of Tuscia from 2010.
In 2009-2010 coordinator of the project "Garden of Europe" of the Casa De Gasperi Museum (Pieve Tesino, Trento) entrusted to the University of Tuscia, by Alcide De Gasperi Foundation, Trento.
In 2014 grant for SYNTHESYS Project financed by European Community Research Infrastructure Action under the FP7 Capacities Program. application title: "Biosystematic study of the genus Viola Section Melanium".
